Raymond Molinar
Photographer / 16mm Filmmaker / Professional Skateboarder

カリフォルニア在住。
プロスケーターで数々のスケート映像作品に登場してきたRaymond、2004 年に写真への情熱に目覚め、 35mm、中判、大判、ポラロイドを使用し撮影された彼の作品はポートレイト、広告写真、ストリート、 風景と繊細に表現されている。
特に彼の代名詞であるポラロイドを使用した作品は 8×10 の大判カメラを使用し、独特な風合いと優しさと懐かしさを感じる素敵な写真です。

昨今では、写真フィルム自体が廃盤になるなど
価格高騰で気軽に手を出す事が非常に難しく、
その中でもポラロイド、
しかも 8×10 を使用するなど 尋常じゃないこだわりの持ち主です。
今年初めに自身のスタジオをロサンゼルスにオープン、
さらに現在工事中でもともとモーテルだった場所に俳優、プロスケーターでもある Jason Lee と共に カメラショップのオープンに向けて奮闘中の彼の現在を取材。
フィルムで写真を撮られる方がロサンゼルスに訪れた際には重要なショップになる事は間違いありません。
その多忙な彼の素晴らしい世界感のある作品と日常の一部を本誌を通してお届け致します。



Misato Suzuki

カリフォルニア在住。
僕が彼女の作品を初めて目にしたのは、
UMA LANDSLEDS のスケートデッキにプリントされたアートワーク。
目が止まり、作者を調べると Misato さんの名前を発見。
日本人の方でオフィシャルからリリースされたボードで 素敵な作品に衝撃を受けたのを
今でも鮮明に記憶しています。

その後、どの様な活動をされているのか気になり、
今回の号で特集を組ませて頂けないかと DM を送り、
快く受け入れて頂き訪れた南カリフォルニアの 自宅兼スタジオには素敵な家族と穏やかな空気と愛がある素晴らしい場所でした。

撮影をしながらお話をお伺いすると、
以前は Girl Skateboards で働きながら女性ブランドのディレクターをしアート活動を続けていたとの話を聞き
ふとガレージの机に目をやると Girl のデッキに落とし込まれた MIsato さんのコラボデッキとあの人形が!
更なる衝撃が体に走り震えました。

僕は何枚も Girl のデッキを乗ってきた Girl 愛好者で、
数々の映像作品にも 影響を受けてきたのです。

大学生時からアメリカに在住し活動。
絵画は、アメリカ、ヨーロッパ、オーストラリア、 カナダ、日本での個展やグループ展をはじめ、世界中のギャラリーで紹介されています。
その作品は自然と文化を統合し、
現代の生活と生きている世界を繋ぎ、
海に近く森に囲まれ、
いたるところに緑がある 青森で過ごした時間の影響を受けています。

本号ではその作品のほんの一部と素敵な家族と 空間をご紹介させていただいています。

写真ではお伝えする事が難しいシーン、

This is the fourth issue of .OWT.,
which focuses on two people each issue.

Living in California.

Raymond is a professional skater who has appeared in numerous skate videos.
In 2004, he discovered his passion for photography, and his works,
which are shot using 35mm, medium format, large format, and Polaroid, are delicately expressed in portraits, advertising photos, street, and landscapes.

In particular, his works using Polaroid,
which is his trademark, are wonderful photographs that use a large 8x10 camera and have a unique texture, gentleness, and nostalgia.
These days, photographic film itself is discontinued,
and the rising prices make it very difficult to get your hands on it casually,
so he has an extraordinary commitment to using Polaroid, especially 8x10.
He opened his own studio in Los Angeles earlier this year,
and is currently working on opening a camera shop with actor and pro skater Jason Lee in what used to be a motel,
which is currently under construction.
We interviewed him about his current situation.
There is no doubt that this will be an important shop for film photographers when they visit Los Angeles.
Through this magazine,
we will bring you a glimpse of his wonderful,
worldly work and daily life.

Living in California.
The first time I saw her work was the artwork printed on a skate deck for UMA LANDSLEDS. My eyes were caught,
and when I looked up the artist,
I found Misato's name. It was a board released by an official Japanese artist,
and I still vividly remember being shocked by his wonderful work.

After that,
I was curious about what kind of activities she was doing,
so I sent her a DM asking if I could feature her in this issue, and she kindly accepted.

Her home and studio in Southern California was a wonderful place with a wonderful family,
a calm atmosphere, and love.
As we were shooting,
I heard that he used to work at Girl Skateboards while also working as a director for a women's brand and continuing his artistic activities.
When I looked over at the desk in the garage,
I saw a collaboration deck with MIsato and that doll on a Girl deck!
I was shocked and trembled.
I am a Girl enthusiast who has ridden many Girl decks,
and I have been influenced by many of his video works.
He has lived and worked in the United States since he was a university student.
His paintings have been exhibited in galleries around the world,
including solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Australia, Canada,
and Japan.

His works integrate nature and culture,
connect modern life with the living world,
and are influenced by the time he spent in Aomori,
which is close to the sea,
surrounded by forests,
and has greenery everywhere. In this issue,
we introduce a small part of his work,
as well as his wonderful family and space.

Paradise Eight FILMS

This time,
the film was shot on 8mm film in California,
where we visited together for an interview.
There are many scenes that are difficult to convey in photos,
and scenes that are not published in the magazine,
so you will definitely enjoy it even more if you look at it together with the magazine.
